In this article I will guide people to download and use Robo 3T (RoboMongo) on Windows.
What is Robo 3T?
Robo 3T or RoboMongo before (after bug fixes, improvements)
Robo 3T is a visual tool for working with MongoDB. Like when using MySQL, you will install MySQL Workbench to query data on the interface.
Instead of having to open a command line interface to connect, query …, with Robo 3T has a UI user interface, you just need to drag and drop, click … much simpler.
Download Robo 3T
To download Robo 3T, you go to its homepage: https://robomongo.org/download
Robo 3T supports both Mac and Linux.
Here I use Windows. You download portable version to run immediately, no need to install. (After understanding more carefully, people will download the installer to customize it later)
Use Robo 3T
You unzip the downloaded .zip file and click on the file
This is the Robo 3T interface when first opened.
Create to create a connection to MongoDB.
On the Menu there are options such as Authentication (in case you need a username / password), SSH when you connect to MongoDB on another machine via SSH …
Here I connect to Mongo itself on my local.
Test to test the connection
After saving the connection (connection) it will appear on the connection panel for you to choose.

Below is the Robo 3T interface after connecting, the left part is the list of databases.
Instructions for creating a database with Robo 3T
Name the database
Collections(Collection in MongoDB is equivalent to table in SQL)
Collectionnewly created (document corresponding to the row / record in SQL)
(Right click on the customer collection and choose Insert Document; There are other options available on the menu such as delete, edit collections …)
MongoDB saves data as JSON, BSON, and XML.
Here I will add a new customer object as shown below.
